It has emerged that the League Management Company, LMC forced the Nigeria Professional Football League club owners to vote in favour of cancellation of the 2019/2020 league season due to paucity of fund, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands.

It was gathered that the LMC is eagerly pushing for the cancellation of the 2019/2020 League season which was stopped after Week 25 matches in March this year.

17 members of the NPFL Club Owners on Sunday voted to abort the season and using Point Per Game, PPG to determine the country’s continental representatives.

Exclusivenews reports a an aggrieved source told the paper that following the none acceptance of their position in the recent decisions of the club owners, that the LMC was pushing for the cancellation of the league because they are broke, and has no money to continue the league.

The source who pleaded anonymity accused journalists for not doing enough investigation to unravel the dirtiness involved in the voting and how the decision was arrived at.

“The problem we are having now is that you journalists have either compromised or you have refused to do your job. I have been watching for anybody to mention anywhere that it’s the LMC that is pushing for the cancellation of the League. The major reason is that they don’t have the money to continue the league.

“Thank God that Elder Paul Bassey just came out to tell the world that no money has been given to any of the clubs for the last three seasons. Also, the officiating officials are being owed various amounts of money. So, the league would crumble if they allow it to continue. That is why they are eager to see that the season come to an end, even with the Super Six we proposed cancelled.

“Why I have remained pissed off with our journalists is that you guys have refused to point out the major things and are reporting what you want your friends in the football house and LMC to hear and read. None of you has ever reported that in the 21st century, that clubs in the Nigeria Premier League played without license up to Week 25 that the league stopped.

“No club played with license. What we played with was the registration forms that the Chief Operating Officer signed, and written for only Week 1 & 2 but we used it up to Week 25. I’m also sure that the staff of their office have not received their salaries in the last four months.

“That’s the reason why they cannot punish any club that is owing it’s players. When they, the regulatory body is owing their staff. So, why would they not be happy to support the cancellation of the league moreover, when the pandemic brought a respite for them.” he concluded angrily.

It would be recalled that the Chairman of Akwa United , Paul Bassey had revealed within the week that the LMC has not given the clubs any money since the 2017/2018 Football season
