The minister of sports in Senegal, Matar Ba has said that the Teranga Lions have all it takes to win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Bestchoicesports.com.ng understands.

In an interview with a Senegalese TV station, Ba said that the national team has been progressing well and it is about time they clinched the continental title.

“I was with the team in Equatorial Guinea (2015) with Alain Giresse where we were eliminated in the quarterfinals, then in Gabon (2017) we again failed at the quarters and in Egypt (2019) we finished second. I’m sure the next one will be ours,” he said.

Ba said that the Lions of Teranga will have to have ambition and the Senegalese government will support them to achieve their goal.

“The team has to have ambition since we know we have the capability. The government is ready to provide what they need to clinch the African title,” he concluded.

Senegal lost the 2019 AFCON final by alone goal to champions Algeria but Liverpool attacker, Sadio Mane was crowned Africa Football of the Year thereafter.
