Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi scored his seventh consecutive English Premier League goal against Manchester United at the Old Trafford on Saturday though it was not enough as his side, Nottingham Forest lost 3-2.

Despite leading 2-0 in the first four minutes of the encounter with Awoniyi scoring in the second minute, Nottingham Forest had their work made more difficult when Joe Worrall was sent of in the second half.

While Awoniyi and Wily Boly scored in the send and fourth minutes, Manchester United’s resurgence was led by Christian Eriksen in the 17 minute as Casmiero and Fernandez scored both in the second half – with the latter via spot kick – to turn things around.

Awoniyi’s goal was his seventh in seven consecutive EPL matches. He’s only the third African player to score in seven successive PL games, after Emmanuel Adebayor and Mo Salah.

Meanwhile, at the Emirates Stadium, it was not a rosy day for Super Eagles defender, Calvin Bassey as he received his first matching order in the league.

The left wing back was shown a second yellow card on the 82nd minute as his side Fulham thrailled 2-1 against Arsenal.

Bassey put up an excellent performance, orchastrating series of attacking moves that troubled Arsenal’s backline.

However, the former Rangers defender’s dismissal didn’t have much effect on his side as Joao Palhinha equalised on the 87 minute.

Bassey will miss Fulham’s home derby against Tottenham on Tuesday next week.
