Leicester City manager, Brendan Rodgers has confessed that the Foxes really missed the combative midfielder during his injury period and expressed delight in having the 2019 AFCON bronze winner back in the fold.

Ndidi returned from injury days ahead of his expected return to help the Foxes win their first match in three games.

In his absence, Leicester lost two consecutive matches – against Southampton and Burnley – but were back on winning ways Wednesday as they spanked West Ham 4-1 with Ndidi playing a pivotal role in the victory.

Speaking in his post-match conference, Rodgers extolled Ndidi for his efforts and expressed delight that his early return was a huge relief to the club.

“He’s a real colossal player for us. He allows to defend and to defend forward.

“He covers lot of space for our attacking players and there’s not too many players better than him at his job.

“To have him back early is a huge boost. He’s been a miss, no doubt,” he said.
