More than two months after it made the promise to constitute the boards of Nigeria League bodies in the country, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has once again announced that it would constitute the boards “within the next two weeks”

The NFF had announced in April that it would within one month, constitute the boards in various Nigeria leagues – Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL; Nigeria Women’s Football League, NWFL; Nigeria National League, NNL and the Nationwide League One, NLO. However, more that two months after, the boards were not set up.

On April 18, 2023, the NFF disclosed that “In order to further rejuvenate the domestic game, the Board took a decision that within the next one (1) month, the Federation should, through its governing structure best practice and as enshrined in the Statutes, constitute boards for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), the Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the Nigeria Nationwide League One (NLO).”

Similar declaration was made the following day by the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau

“Afterwards, the NFF Executive Committee will meet to decide on the best way forward. However, new Boards of the Nigeria National League, Nigeria Women Football League and the Nigeria Nationwide League One will be constituted within the next one month,” President of NFF, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau said

But in a press statement after the NFF Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, the federation stated that the boards would be set up “within the next two weeks”

“The Board (NFF Executive Committee) promised to, within the next two weeks, constitute the Governing Boards for the Nigeria National League (NNL), the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) and the Nationwide League One (NLO).”

The federation did not provide explanations on what led to the delay in constituting the board since April.
