Handball Federation Unveils Sponsors For Male National Team Ahead of Africa Championship

The president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Sam Ocheho has called on corporate organisations to support the programmes of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN).

Mr Ocheho made the call at a media parley and unveiling of sponsors for the senior male national handball team preparing for the 25th Africa Men Handball Championship in Abuja

Ocheho who said his hope is that handball will regain its place as a household name and be on the streets of cities in Nigeria, said the support of corporate Nigeria will go a long way in helping to develop and grow the sport better.

While eulogizing the management of Zedcrest Capital and other corporate bodies who deemed it fit to partner with the HFN in ensuring that the national team known as the Golden Arrows do well at the Nations Cup in Egypt, Ocheho also called for more corporate support for the programmes of HFN

“My joy would be to see handball played on the streets of Nigeria just like football and for the sport to be a house hold name once again” Ocheho said

“The support of corporate Nigeria will go a long way in achieving that. That’s why I want to thank the board and management of Zedcrest Capital and other supporting corporate bodies for partnering with us in ensuring that we make the national team do well at the Nations Cup because they saw the zeal of the HFN board and they have joined us to put Nigeria back on the world map of the best handballing teams in the world” Ocheho said

The other corporate bodies are Cardinal Stone, Commercio Partners, Krosk Investment and Dane Investment.

Representative of Zedcrest Capital present at the media parley, Enejo Okpanachi said the attention to detail and determination of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) attracted the interest of the company to sponsor its programmes.

“Part of our Corporate Social Responsibility is to give back the society and we are giving back to the society in supporting the programmes of the HFN starting with the National team to Egypt because of their determination and attention to detail in their activities”. Okpanachi said

“We will ensure more publicity for the programmes of the federation and ensure that we do our part to grow the sport” Okpanachi concluded.

Nigeria is in drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia and Cape Verde and will play their first match against Tunisia on July 11 and Cape Verde on July 12.

Nigeria has participated in eleven editions of the Africa Men Handball Nations with their best outing recorded in the 1998 edition held in South Africa wherein they finished 4th after losing to Egypt 35-26.
