Sports Minister Confirms Super Eagles V Leone Stars Match Will Go Ahead

The minister of youth and sports, Sunday Dare has confirmed that the matchday 3 2021 Africa Cup of Nations between Super eagles of Nigeria and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone will go ahead, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The first leg of the home-and-away match between the two nations will hold in Benin, Edo state capital on Friday, November 13.

The number one sports man in the country, Mr dare has declared that the match will go ahead as scheduled despite concerns raised over COVID-19 pandemic.

“Absolutely,” the minister said when asked if the match will hold in an interview

“The match will hold. You can see the opening up of various sectors of the Nigerian economy.

“You can see various countries are opening up especially the sporting world and I think Nigeria is part of the entire football and sports ecosystem.”

The minister said that the ministry is ready for the match but added that COVID-19 guidelines must be observed to the letter

“We are ready. We just follow the protocols of no audience, no gathering. Test needs to be conducted on players and the bench.

“Once we follow those rules, we are ready.”

Meanwhile the super Eagles players and officials on Wednesday had their COVID-19 tests and results are expected to be out by today.

The Nigeria V Sierra Leone match will kick-off by 5pm Nigerian time
