Portharcourt City FC Wednesday failed to honour its Aiteo Cup Round of 32 match against El Kanemi Warriors in Abuja, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.

The absence of the Rivers State club was cuspicously noticed when their bus failed to turn up at the Goal Projec, Package B of MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja with few minutes to kick off time.

After waiting for minutes with El Kanemi players jogging the ball in the field, the team was later walked over, thus giving the Maidugri side the 3 points and three goals.

With this development, El Kanemi Warriors are through to Round 16 of the FA Cup and will meet the winner between Ekiti United and Bendel Insurance.

Speaking with our reporter on the development, Aiteo Cup Desk Officer, Emmanuel Adesoye said the club contacted him around 12noon today to confirm their unavailability due to lack of fund.

When asked if the club would be punished for failing to honour the match, Mr Adesoye said they will certainly be punished.

He added that the punishment for pulling out or failing to honour a match is graded.

Although he did not disclose what the punishment for Port Harcourt City FC would be, he nonetheless gave assurance that they will be punished which could come in form of fine.
